AreTheyGood?NBA - iOS - Swift
AreTheyGood?NBA is an iOS Swift app I created to further build on my iOS development skills. Basketball is my favorite sport to follow, and I wanted to work with interacting with Web APIs and parsing JSON, so when I discovered that you could pull stats from nba.com in a JSON format, I figured it would be a fun thing to pursue. This app allows you to pull the stats for a player or a team for any given year since the NBA started to track play-by-play stats. You can also compare the stats of two players. To make the app more interesting, I'm also giving a slight analysis based on the stats given. I'm determining if a player is "good" (obviously every player in the NBA is good) based off of where they place in the different stat quartiles for their position. I generated these quartiles using full stat sheets generated in the backend of the app and running those through R.
I don't have any intention of publishing this app on the App Store until I find a new source for the stats used, but the full source code for this is currently available at my GitHub page.
